Hi everybody and welcome to the Simple System design forum. We'd like to hear from everyone so please post a reply and share a thing or two about yourself, like your favorite games, movies, music, conventions, etc. Or if nothing else, just say "hi"!

Hello! I'm Trollsmyth, aka Brian. I'm into old school and rules-light gaming. Right now I'm running weekly Moldvay/Cook era D&D and an irregularly meeting Numenera game. Very much looking forward to seeing what sort of play Simple System encourages and kit-bashing some setting material for it. I blot at trollsmyth.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone. I'm CodeMercenary, aka Steve. I'm a software engineer working on Windows, mobile and web apps. I mostly play Euro style board games but also a bit of pen and paper RPG when I can. I love Agricola and Lords of Waterdeep. I really like Dominant Species but I have only half played it once and ran out of time. I recently acquired Caverna, after a multi-month search, but haven't had a chance to play it yet.
I recently started playing in a monthly Star Wars Saga Edition campaign and I'm loving it. Prior to this campaign I've only GMed Saga Edition, never played it. GMing was always a pain because I found I had to spend 5 or 6 hours preparing for a session even though I was running a packaged campaign. It just got to be too big a time commitment what with a wife and 4 kids that want my time too.
That's what drew me in when I saw Simple System. No more reading 200 page rule books then still needing to dig through them during a gaming session. Sometimes I love the complexity of systems like that when I'm playing but I didn't like it at all when it came to GMing. I'd also like to get my younger kids introduced to RPGing, maybe even my wife, but there's no way they would tolerate the complexity and time required and D&D and Star Wars hold no interest for them. I'm hoping with Simple System that someone will come up with a setting that they'd find interesting - or if no one else will do it then maybe I'll be the one to come up with it. My girls love Jacob Two Two, I wonder if I could turn that into an RPG. He's always having adventures of some sort...
Looking forward to getting the system in my hands to see what I can do with it. Also looking forward, with nearly the same excitement, to seeing what settings people will create.
In my day job, along with lots of other software, I wrote an ID printing app for Windows. It's used by schools and businesses for printing student IDs or employee badges. I'm pondering how hard it would be to change it to print playing cards instead. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to give it away for free because it's commercial software owned by the company I work for but in theory it could become an easier way to trade and print out settings decks.

Hello, I'm Alan aka Paul Ooshun, one of the content creators featured by Roll20.net
I've been roleplaying since I was a small kid, and doodling just as long. It's nice to find the two things have finally come together. I'm hoping to deliver some digital art and content for Simple System via the Roll20 marketplace. I have a couple of ideas brewing nicely in the back of my mind but I'm keen to see how this develops and help it along the road where I can.

Hello all,
I'm Arcanet, AKA Ville S on Kickstarter and Roll20, and I'm the unrelenting Banhammer, Demolisher of Spam friendly neighbourhood Global Moderator around here.
I've been playing and mostly GM:ing various PnP RPGs over the last 15 years, mostly DnD 3, 3.5, and 4. Simple System struck me as a perfect way to get my small and now sadly slightly spread group back into some roleplaying, and as a very good platform for a setting I've been mulling about for a while. I'll be sharing more about it later, but it'll take a while as it has already grown bigger than I thought.

hi?
Just joking. Hi all, I am Mr. Seeker. I am into everything that is classy. Really wanted to get into DnD but never found a group of people interested for long enough to actually play, or at least do anything at all. I hope with this setup I can at least teach some of the neighbourhood kids the value of board games. Nowadays they all seem to be focussed on minecraft and computer games, and less into interaction with others. When I was young...
I really hope to use this place as a jumpstart to see what DnD really is, and to get myself into some push to actually do something. Got a shitload of projects on my backlog, but I havent got time to do them all.

Back in the ancient days of the late 70s and high school, I was introduced to a strange and wonderfully imaginative game known as D&D. The DM heavily modified the game with more storytelling than “role” playing, and didn't let the rules bog down the game play. I never looked back!
Life, as it can, interrupted that early lifestyle. After college, more college, work, even more college, love, marriage, and a child later I have rediscovered my inner geek. My daughter and I (and sometimes my wife!) attend comic conventions, renaissance festivals, and, when possible, dress the part as well!
In amongst all of this activity, I have also rediscovered my interest in how a game plays. I have thought about starting tabletop gaming again (I guess I’m just too old to get any inspiration from online games) and have gone so far as to support the recent OGRE redesign from Steve Jackson Games. I’ve looked into various systems, FATE being the most interesting to date, but haven’t found something that fits just right. In the end, it boils down to game mechanics, which far too often gets in the way of storytelling, slowing down the imagination and the spirit of what I believe gaming should be about.
Simple System seems a dream come true. It allows for flexibility without sacrificing the game mechanic altogether, and yet it doesn’t get in the way of the story. I have already started thinking about how to incorporate different races and magic/psionic abilities into the system.

Qardh! I am Aetesaki, aka Tore L. Tangen, boardgamer, conlanger and primorator of Delang, and I guess I can add author to that list, although I can't write. I'm a Dominion nuts that's finally got all the cards. I like the Simple System because it enables me to create a game from the conculture of Illte.

Hello, I'm a backer for this project. Not really knowledgeable on Tabletop RPG's, but looking at this project got me interested in trying them.

Heya, I am Lea, also a backer. Considering using simple system because it is a light rules product and many of the points I already have include 12 zodiac signs and 12 totemic familiar/animal companions. I am going to try to see how a character creation with friends goes.

Hiya, I'm an Australian librarian I was a dark ages reenactor in the Ancient Arts Fellowship but now I do foam in the combat LARP The Hundred Swords. I'm a Farscape and Doctor Who fan especially of Faction Paradox. In my spare time (before I became a new father) I made print and play games (I'm on boardgamegeek) and various orher things. I dabble in PHP, Photoshop and my favourite computer games are Thief and Half Life. I like making play aids and variants for published games (e.g. Battlestations) and thought it'd be fun to back this system as I'm also a fan of indie and rules lite RPGs

Hello! I'm a process specialist / research physicist at a small nanotechnology company in the US. I've got a couple of years of experience DMing D&D 4e, which is a lot of fun, but is unnecessarily complicated, and in my opinion needs a lot of house-rules to fix some design flaws. I have a passion for game systems (both video & tabletop) that are simple and intuitive, but have a strong foundation and aren't easily breakable. I enjoy programming simulations of game systems and running combat encounters (or whatever equivalent that game may have), hundreds of thousands at a time, to look for imbalances in "win probabilities" and using that information to improve the system with smart design changes. I'm planning on giving the same treatment to the Simple System demo and providing feedback to D.I., which I hope will be useful!

My name on Kickstarter is Paul S. but generally speaking my usernames tend to have some reference to the Egyptian god Anubis. I was big into card games a few years back (MtG, various incarnations of the DBz card game, Yugioh, Pokemon, Fullmetal Alchemist, probably a few other obscure things I had wasted money on that I can't remember off hand like Shaolin Showdown), but keeping up with ban lists and set rotations got to be expensive and tedious these days I just play pathfinder with a shrinking group of friends (during a game I ran there were 9 players at the table, man that was crazy, now we get a more standard 4-5 depending on life that week), and occasionally I also do some roll20 stuff with 2 of my other friends who don't mind doing things over the internet (specifically I ran a Pokemon Tabletop United game, which was fun but tedious, now roll20 has all these nice status tokens, characters sheets, search functions that I would have loved while running that a few years back). I'm not even sure my main group will even be interested in this, but I ordered the full set anyway (I'm a sucker for cards). The main diversion right now in my life is video games I mostly play strategy games, with Europa Universalis 4 and Crusader Kings 2 being the main games I tend to chuck away 4-6 hours in a sitting, but occasionally some RPGs and MMOs (though MMOs lose their appeal quickly these days). Another few years back hobby when I had money was collecting old school rare games like Chrono Trigger and Supper Mario RPG, still haven't gotten around to beating Chrono Trigger.
My main interest with simple system is the Scifi setting, as I'm pretty sure Pathfinder is gonna be my defacto if I want to do something in a fantasy setting system just by virtue of the money my friends and I have sent Paizo's way. I love SciFi and have tried a couple systems to try and run a scifi game, but they all tend to have really overly complicated rules with Starships and space combat that end up killing the game, so really hoping Simple System can solve that. The other thing I like is that if I'm bored and don't feel like putting too much thought into a character I can just shuffle the skill, flaw, classes, and races (separately of course) and draw a random character up. It would be interesting to just deal out random characters like that to the table, it'd probably be about the only way to get some people (including myself) at my table to try something different.

Hello, all! I'm FluffyMoose, and I'm a huge fan of roleplaying games, especially those that can be played with a focus on story and that require minimal preparation. My goal is to introduce beginners, particularly children, to tabletop roleplaying, and I think the Simple System RPG might be just the system I've been waiting for!
I look forward to creating custom content for the Simple System and, of course, playing!
