With Simple Systems just days from launch, I was wondering if this has been addressed yet? Will there be a one-off fee for licensing, or will you have to license each product? How much? What rights does DI Games retain? Are there restrictions on what sort of game you can make?

There will be no fees at all, and no restrictions on what kind of settings you can create, so long as it doesn't infringe on other peoples' IPs.
The reason for licensing is to make it clear what Simple Smiths are and are not permitted to sell. For example, they would not be allowed to repackage the rules and sell them. I am also maintaining exclusive control of the Resolution Decks, in order to ensure consistency and compatibility between all products made for Simple System. This doesn't rule out the potential for resolution decks with custom appearances, however Simple Smiths will be required to coordinate with me personally if they wish to release such a thing.
Even when giving stuff away for free it is necessary to include licensing, and my main intention is to ensure that every individual's work is respected, protected, and everyone has a fair opportunity to profit from their work if they so desire.

What do you mean by "Re-packaging the rules"?

It means you can't include/sell the core rulebook in your setting pack.
