After a lot of frustration and disappointments, and considering the work that remains to be done and my changing circumstances, I have no choice but to discontinue the development of Simple System.
I apologize to you all for not being able to deliver on what I promised. I severely underestimated the amount of work that it would take to bring this product to market, and continued to run into obstacles that consumed all of the pledged funds and have sapped all of my enthusiasm for the project. Just last week not just one but both of my computers went down, at which point I said to myself "ok, I guess this just wasn't meant to be." There have also been developments in my personal and family life which I have to give priority, leaving me virtually no time to continue the project.
I really appreciate all of the support of the community, it was nice getting to know some of you and hear your excellent ideas. The support was overwhelming, which was exciting, but also part of the problem I think. I initially asked for just $1,500, thinking this was just going to be a little 'arts and crafts' project. But it got way bigger than that and turned into more than I was able to handle, unfortunately it has taken me some time to come to that realization.
Refunds are the only way forward that I can see in order to make things right. I will be issuing refunds to the backers who pledged the most first, and continue in descending order. For the time being the refunds will be for those whose reward levels included physical rewards, after which I will provide information regarding those who pledged for digital rewards.

I apologize again and thank you all for you patience, and ask that you please be patient with me in the coming months as I begin sending refunds. Please consider that the original pledged funds were spent on fees, commission artwork, several unsuccessful attempts to have parts of the game printed, and my own unsuccessful attempts to produce it myself. As a result, I'll be issuing the bulk of the refunds from my own pocket which may take some time."
